Week 14Week 14: It’s Empowering to Eat a Healthy Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Sugar-Free Diet!

Interesting findings I’ve had about my cravings on this experiment! A busy week filled with fun workouts, daily work, a competition week for my students, and more! Read on below to see how my week went.

Sunday, February 24th :

For my workout I started the day off with the TurboFire HIIT 15 Class + 10 minutes of full-body stretching on the Power Plate.

My friend Clare and I went window shopping at Fashion Valley Mall on this wonderful sunny day! Then Tom met us for lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. I wasn’t sure if I’d find anything to fit into my gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free diet at the Cheesecake Factory. It’s been awhile since I’ve eaten there, and I haven’t been to the Cheesecake Factory since I started my fitness and nutrition experiment.

To my pleasant surprise, the waitress told me some dishes they could substitute items on to make them gluten free. I ended up ordering Evelyn’s Favorite Pasta with brown rice instead of penne pasta. So, I had brown rice tossed with broccoli, oven-dried tomato, roasted eggplant, peppers, artichoke, Kalamata olives, garlic, and pine nuts. It was delicious, I left feeling satisfied, and was happy to have had quite a nutritious meal.

Day 92 complete. I actually found something gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free at the Cheesecake Factory!

Monday, February 25th :

Today for workouts I completed:

– 30 minute walk in the morning in the park.

–  Run followed by 6 x 50 yard sprints, a 20 minute jog, and then finished with a walking cool-down in the park.

–  10 minutes of full-body stretching on the Power Plate.

–  5 Minutes of Power Plate massage.

It was fun doing the running, sprinting, and walking for my workout today. It was a good change. I was really happy that I felt faster than I’ve ever been running, and my knees didn’t hurt at all. (I’ve recovered from having tendonitis in my knees from competitive ice dancing.)

I’ve not been running or sprinting lately, so it was exciting to get an excellent workout from it while feeling in great shape! Running has never been my favorite type of exercise, so it was awesome to feel better at it when I’ve not even been training in it. TurboFire is helping many areas of my fitness!

Day 93 complete. I had a fun workout in the park with Tom!

Tuesday, February 26th :

I started the day off with TurboFire Sculpt 30 Class + Fire 45 Class + 10 minutes of full-body stretching on the Power Plate.

It was great to catch up on things I needed to get done today.

Day 94 complete. It was a fun, tough workout!

Wednesday, February 27th:

I worked most of the day, and I also worked on my to-do list. Not the most exciting day but productive. I made today my rest day as I’m in my second to last week of TurboFire.

Day 95 complete. It was a productive day!

Thursday, February 28th:

I completed the TurboFire HIIT 25 Class + Tone 30 Class + 10 minutes of full-body stretching on the PowerPlate. I really enjoy the HIIT Classes of TurboFire, and the HIIT 25 Class was especially enjoyable today.

I worked and did some competition preparation for California State Games that my students are competing in this weekend.

Day 96 complete. I really enjoy the TurboFire HIIT 25 Class!

Friday, March 1st:

I spent most of the day working at the ice rink. When I returned home, I dealt with final competition preparation for the California State Games competition that starts tomorrow. Super busy day. (It’s always a bit on the hectic side before a weekend filled with competition.)

I made today into my rest day instead of next Monday. It felt imperative that I had the time to complete all competition preparation and not be too exhausted from lack of sleep. So, I figured it would be better to work out on Monday instead of today. Plus, I’m starting my early morning with a workout tomorrow!

Day 97 complete. It was a rest workout day.

Saturday, March 2nd:

Chea and I woke up at 4:45am to do our TurboFire workout at 5:00am. We did the TurboFire Fire 55 EZ Class + 10 minutes full-body stretching on the PowerPlate. It was early to work out at 5am, but I felt great for doing it even though I will be at the competition with my students until 7pm!

My students had a great day at the California State Games competition today! Good luck to them for tomorrow!

Day 98 complete. I loved completing my early morning workout before the competition!

It’s interesting to notice how my cravings have gotten so much better with this fitness and nutrition experiment. It’s not that I don’t crave desserts and other treats, but I hardly think about them unless someone is eating them around me. Even then, I notice them much less.

1-5 years ago, I really disliked going without dessert for a week or more. I found it difficult, and even though I knew I could do it if I wanted to, I didn’t feel the inner drive to actually cut out desserts for longer than a month. Now I feel proud of what I’m doing, and I actually enjoy the feeling I get from not having desserts.

I feel great knowing I’m eating extremely healthily. It’s very empowering to do this experiment, and to know I’ve been successfully completing it for over 3 months now is so exciting!

Yay! I’ve completed my 14th week out of 26 weeks!
