Week 5: Gluten-Free, Sugar-Free, Dairy-Free Christmas!
Christmas has come and gone. I’m happy to report that I had a gluten-free, sugar-free, and dairy-free Christmas! Read on to see how my week went.
Sunday, December 23rd:
I slept for 18 hours from Saturday afternoon until Sunday morning to try and get healthy again for Christmas. I still had a lot of the same symptoms and felt weak.
Tom and I went for a nice long walk to get some fresh air and help get my blood flowing.
Day 29 complete. I hope I’m better for Christmas.
Monday, December 24th:
It’s Christmas Eve. We flew to Colorado Springs today to see my parents for Christmas! I’ve lost my voice and I’m coughing a lot. Still, I love Christmas Eve!
I didn’t work out today because I felt lethargic and still am quite sick.
Day 30 complete and very happy for Christmas Eve !
Tuesday, December 25th:
It’s Christmas Day!!! I’m really happy for the holiday, but I had a restless night coughing. My cough is sounding bad, so I am going to the doctor tomorrow.
It was a great day of opening presents, having a healthy meal of nut loaf and some yummy mashed potatoes, and spending time with my family. This was the first thing I’ve eaten this week that wasn’t difficult because of my sore throat. I’ve hardly been hungry so far, so it was great to be able to enjoy my favorite meal.
Day 31 complete, and I ate healthily for Christmas!
Wednesday, December 26th:
I went to the doctor today and was given cough medicine and an antibiotic for bronchitis and sinus infection. It was caught just before it turned into pneumonia, which I’m thankful for. Shortly after I had my first dose of antibiotics, I started to improve and feel better.
The good thing about not feeling well is that I haven’t felt tempted by desserts at all. They’ve been around, but I’ve hardly had a second thought about sweets.
Day 32 complete, and I’m on the mend!
Thursday, December 27th:
I slept great last night! Yay! I’m starting to feel so much better now! I’m still tired with a cough, but I’m improving loads!
I’m taking working out one day at a time and seeing how I feel. I’ve been doing Wii Fit with my mom and Tom. It’s easy and light exercise. I haven’t felt up for TurboFire yet, though.
Day 33 complete. I kept up my healthy habits through the Christmas holidays!
Friday, December 28th:
I’m feeling soooooo much better! It’s amazing what antibiotics do when you need them! It’s been really helpful that I’m off this week, so I could rest and get better again.
I’m not very hungry still. I’m drinking lots of fluids so I don’t get dehydrated.
Day 34 complete, and my health is improving!
Saturday, December 29th:
I had a great night’s sleep! I’m feeling much more recovered. I’m still fighting a cough and fatigue. Tomorrow we leave for San Diego again.
Day 35 complete, and New Year here I come!
I’m very happy to have made it through the Christmas season with no sweets, dairy, or gluten!!! It’s too bad I was so sick, but it’s good I was able to get antibiotics and get better. It’s easy to get sick when on holiday because you let down and relax. I’m happy to say my nutrition plan is easier to stick with, and the cravings are hardly present. Let’s see what New Year brings! Happy New Year!!!
